Semua teman di kelas tahu aku dan Cicely bersahabat karib. Mereka bilang,
dimana ada Nola, di situ ada Cicely. Namun ada satu perbedaan besar antara aku
dan Cicely. Aku dari keluarga sederhana, Cicely hidup berkecukupan. Untunglah,
meski orang tuanya kaya, Cicely tidak sombong. Cicely bahkan betah bermain di
rumahku yang sederhana. Selain bermain bersama, ada satu hal yang membuat
Cicely senang di rumahku.

Ia sangat menyukai bunga matahari yang tumbuh di
halaman belakang rumahku. Sudah berapa kali Cicely mencoba menanam bunga
matahari di rumahnya, tetapi selalu gagal.
Persahabatanku dengan Cicely sungguh menyenangkan. Akan tetapi, aku
merasa akan ada masalah besar bagi persahabatan kami. Semua berawal dari
rencana Cicely untuk merayakan ulang tahunnya. Tia berbisik akan memberikan
kado boneka barbie model baru. Caca akan memberi hadiah sepatu berlukis yang
sedang trend.

Sementara aku, sahabat terdekatnya bingung akan memberi hadiah
apa. Sore itu, mbak Ambar heran melihat uang berserakan didekat pecahan
celengan kelinciku.
“Loh kok, tabungannya diambil? Mau beli apa?” tanyanya
“Mbak, kalau seratus ribu, bisa untuk beli tas bagus ga?” aku bertanya
Mbak Ambar meraih tas sekolahku dan memeriksanya. “Mungkin bisa,
tapi tas ini masih bisa dipakai. Tidak ada yang rusak tuh.” Kata kakakku sambil
meletakkan tas itu.
Tidak ada yang rusak. Itulah kebiasaan dikeluarga ku. Kami hanya membeli
barang baru kalau barang lama sudah betul betul rusak atau hilang. Pulang sekolah,
aku mampir ke toko peralatan sekolah. Dirak berjajar tas berhias kepala boneka,
juga ada buku tulis dengan kertas aneka warna, kotak pensil, rautan, penghapus,
dan penggaris. Semuanya lucu dan menarik.
Aku memeriksa harga yang ditempel disebuah tas yang sangat bagus.
Uangku cukup, pikirku lega. Akan tetapi, tiba tiba aku teringat pada tas baru yang
belum sampai sebulan dipakai Cicely. Tas itu jauh lebih bagus dari tas yang akan
kubeli ini. Aku jadi ragu dan membatalkan niatku untuk membeli tas itu.

Sampai rumah, mbak Ambar tampak sedang bergegas memasukkan
beberapa barang ke dalam tas. “Nenek sakit. Mbak akan mengantar tas ini ke
stasiun. Kamu jaga rumah ya .”
Dibawah langit senja, matahari kembali pulang ke peraduannya. Aku
selalu tersenyum melihat bunga matahariku yang bermekaran. Mengagumi
keindahan yang dimilikinya, bunga indah itu kutaruh di pot warna putih
kesukaanku. Pagi dan sore aku selalu menyiraminya dengan senang hati, kala
menyiraminya, entah perasaanku selalu berbunga bunga.

Keesokan paginya, Cicely mengingatkan kami semua agar tidak lupa
datang kerumahnya sore nanti. Apa yang harus aku lakukan? Aku tak bisa ikut
pesta tanpa kado. Saking bingungnya, tanpa sengaja aku mengeluh pelan dengan
dahi berkerut.
Cicely menoleh, “Kamu sakit ya?” tanyanya cemas.
Ini membuatku ide. Aku mengangguk sambil menampilkan wajah orang
sakit perut. Cicely segera mengantarku ke UKS. Baru kali ini aku berbohong
kepadanya. Aku betul betul merasa besalah, tetapi aku tak punya alasan lain untuk
tidak datang ke pestanya.

Jam di ruang tengah berdentang. Saat ini tepat pukul 17.00, pasti teman
teman sedang bertepuk tangan menyambut Cicely meniup lilin berbentuk angka

“Maafkan aku, Cicely. Aku tak punya kado untukmu.” Bisikku sambil
mengusap usap bunga matahari.
Langkah kaki mbak Ambar mengagetkanku, “Ola, bantu mbak
memindahkan tanaman dipot pot ini ya,” ujarnya sambil mengeluarkan pot pot
kecil dan dua ranjang rotan.
“Aku mau memberi hadiah untuk Lily, teman kuliahku,” ujar mbak
Ambar.
“Aneh, hadiah kok tanaman. Memang pantas?” tanyaku heran
“Loh kenapa tidak? Lily suka bunga. Bunga potong kan, cepat layu. Ini
lebih awet.”
Perkataan mbak Ambar memunculkan ide dipikiranku, kenapa tidak
memberi bunga matahari saja. Kan Cicely menyukainya, apalagi dia selalu
menanamnya, tetapi selalu gagal. Terlihat dua pot yang tersisa aku tanami pohon
bunga matahari kecil. Aku akan menyiapkan salah satu pot yang berisi bunga
matahari itu untuk ku bawa besok pagi. Pot itu aku susun dikeranjang rotan, lalu
kubungkus plastik dan ku hiasi dengan pita besar. Mirip parsel. Besok aku bisa
mengantar kado ini kerumah Cicely, pikirku.
Esok paginya, aku sudah meletakkan keranjang rotan itu diatas sepedaku.
Tiba tiba mobil Cicely berhenti di depan rumahku.
“Hai. Kamu sudah sembuh? Aku khawatir sakitmu parah.” Seru Cicely
sambil turun dari mobil.
Aku tersenyum, “Aku baru mau mengantar kado ini. Belum
terlambatkan?”
Cicely menjerit kegiranagn. Digendongnya keranjang berpita itu. “wah,
kok tau sih, kalau aku ingin bunga matahari?”
Aku senang melihat sahabatku kegirangan. Apalagi melihatnya begitu
rajin merawat pohon bunga matahari itu. Bunga itu tumbuh subur, bahkan ketika
akhirnya Cicely pindah ke kota lain. Ia membawa pohon dan biji biji itu untuk
ditanam di rumahnya yang baru.
Suatu hari, bunyi sepeda motor menderu didepan rumah. Pak pos
menyerahkan sebuah paket untukku. Tak sabar aku buka, sebuah lukisan dan
selembar kartu.
Aku bukan tukang kebun yang pintar. Karena itu, aku khawatir jangan
