Gerakan penanaman pohon matoa ini sebagai wujud nyata komitmen kemenag mengimplementasikan ekoteologi.

Gerakan ini merupakan paradigma yang mengintegrasi nilai-nilai keagamaan dengan pelestarian lingkungan. Pohon matoa dipilih untuk ditanam karena memiliki nilai ekologis, ekonomis dan sebagai simbol keberagaman hayati Indonesia.
